Essaouira is renowned for it strong winds. The Atlantic ocean also has very strong currents. The best places to swim on the Atlantic coast are in bays, like in Agadir or Oualidia. The only places I can think of are the Sofitel Mogador and the Hotel Zahra.
Yes, Essaouira definitely is worth visiting , but no way should it cost $200 per person–do it on your own via Grand Taxi, bus or rental car. If you have a choice, skip Todra Gorge and instead head up the beautiful Dades Gorge.
